Not very far from Quito, is the Cloud Forest of Mindo. Several factors confabulates over here; the humidity coming from the sea that hits the high mountains and then falls in the form of a drizzle or a kind of white mantle.

It is the cloud that covers Mindo in the afternoon so that´s why this small place has become a bird paradise. You are able to see more than 550 species of birds and butterflies.

In flora, abound orchids and bromeliads and if this is not enough, you can visit a cocoa plantation and observe the making of handmade chocolate.

For the adventurers there are many walks and several places where you can give freedom to the adrenaline in a canopy-tour (zip lines) or the so-called ´tubing´ by the river Mindo.
